Unveiled just before press time, the 2013 Lexus GS 350 sport
sedan shows a big change in attitude with its aggressive new front grille. The
GS is powered by a 3.5-litre V6. At 306 horsepower, it is one of the most
powerful base engines in the segment, as well as the only one with both direct
and sequential injection. It propels the GS from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7
seconds and reaches a top speed of 229 km/h. The transmission incorporates many
features adopted from the Lexus IS F high-performance sedan such as faster
shifts, earlier torque lockup and downshift throttle blips. Choose from four
driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport and Sport S. In addition, a hybrid model and
F Sport versions will be launched later in 2012. Pricing and fuel economy to be
announced, but expected to be in the $50,000 range.
