Heritage Meat collection launches locally

It's now easy to get more than just fruit and vegetables when choosing to buy local with Ontario's Heritage Meat – Our Family's Finest Collection.  This pilot project is aimed at promoting artisan-style, award-winning products made from locally raised meat and poultry.  Funded in part by the provincial government and the members of Ontario Independent Meat Processors (OIMP), Ontario's Heritage Meat was created due to the increased demand for local products. Laurie Nicol, executive director of the OIMP, said the products are, “made with the skills, and in some cases the recipes, that have been passed down through families over several generations. It takes time, patience, passion, and pride to make something this good.” Find products produced out of Oshawa such as Csabai Salami sticks and Smoked Montreal Bacon at Michael-Angelo's in Markham and Mississauga.
